Opening Waitakere Arts Centre
With The Governor-General .. The Opening was very crowded, we were talking about my
New Zealand book, which he just asked me about
and he said he hoped to see it soon
I had replied that this one seemed to be constantly interrupted......
unlike the Malaysia one.. on which I had been able to focus
from start to a 14 month finish
It was a bit like this.. many interested people..
even in New Zealand... one can have crowds..
if the event is an exciting new venture which this
Arts Centre was..
in Titirangi which is noted for its Arts and many crafts.. particularly pottery
he made a joke about the distractions, .................
.......and one of the many cameras flashed ..........................
of which he knew I had many, when I returned
to New Zealand...................... Sir Paul Reeves had previously been Archbishop of New Zealand

a New Zealand day
Today............ I decide that I enjoy preparing for an Exhibition
almost as much as I do having one..............
meeting people, hearing their comments, hopefully enjoying all
as I now select, the paintings, look at photographs, other things have to be put aside
but today is a special day for some New Zealanders,
and those with close connections, like myself, here in England.............
as this evening Helen Clark the Prime Minister will speak to a gathering in the
Houses of Parliament, hosted by Austin Mitchell MP.......................
She will see, as we all do, the contrast between the English ancient house
and the still modern Beehive.. I shall be exhibiting my pastel of that too...
.. and this one Pungas
which normally sits about my mantel at home
which I showed for Sir Paul Reeves Governor- General opening of the
Waitakere Arts Centre in Aucklnd..... I had previously presented him with my book
Malaysia Terima Kasih

Paris Interview
One time in Paris I was interviewed in the street.. not far from the Sorbonne
where I had stayed..I never did see the programme, but it was nice to stand around in the
pale sunshine, in such a beautifal part of the City
and have an interesting conversation with the Interviewer
I had drawn the cafe
where we had just had coffee,
and the drawing will be at my Exhibition in Southend
on 11th February
that was a lovely visit ..we did so much..
even went on the boats on the Seine
it is a nice change to be a Tourist
for once
instead of working
although I always found working in Paris
to be a pleasure

I was invited in October to The Cambridge Malaysia Forum
at Cambridge University
The Forum was designed to examine Malaysia's increasing international roles
and possible support which might be given from Cambridge
in its economic challenges
As I was invited to be Advisor to The Malaysia Government, in the 1980's and at the request of
The New Zealand Government, I became Bilateral Aid Advisor to New Zealand Malaysia Governments,
I spoke about the future options for increased Malaysian involvement in overseas countries
and in particular, the host the United Kingdom
suggesting greater dialogue, increased frequency of missions and individual visits to the UK
