The Harvard Club

MY HOME THIS TIME IN NEW YORK
The imposing front of The Harvard Club
gives way to the elegant interior,
with its extraordinary Hall, high ceilinged and dark panelled,
a wonderful place to enjoy morning coffee with The Wall Street Journal
I cannot ignore the banking sector, having been Consultant to two,
and as I read The New York Times each day, online, it is nice to have the
paper to unfold.
I find Clubs to be so comfortable, and welcoming,
however The Harvard Club is now my choice,
The University Club, where I stayed previously, is on 5th Avenue a short distance away

Victoria in New York

I always feel that I must visit the Rockefeller Centre
read the inscriptions,
and, as this time it was summer, sit outside to watch the
visitors from all parts of the world simply enjoying the
atmosphere which the whole plaza seems to encourage
This year, brilliant with flowers, a contrast to the
winter skaters who I have watched before,
it appears to be more relaxed than usual
Victoria's lazy Sunday afternoon in New York

New York Philippines Exhibition

I was invited to the Exhibition at
The Philippines Embassy to The United Nations
on 5th Avenue, to see the works of a young artist from the
Philippines.
The abstract work was quite imaginative and colourful,
I spent time with the Organiser, and visitors
in this 5th Avenue showcase

We talked about the country and its developments in tourism
and promotion,
I said that I would ensure that my
Philippines friends in the Embassy,
and in businesses,
in London would be able to see the exhibit for themselves
through my Diary, which, I find, is read in many different parts of the world
as shown by the languages of the comments, which I now receive

New York Harvard Club

I visited New York on 4th May
staying at The Harvard Club
each time I visit New York, I think how nice it would be to visit more regularly
as I find America to be so welcoming, and interested
in my work
This time, I had some special arrangements to see a very good friend,
and to visit, for the first time in New York Bonhams
the fine arts valuers and auctioneers, who recommend my Talks and Exhibitions

G E M S meetings

I am delighted recently, to have met Mustapha
the new
Cabinet Minister for International Trade of Malaysia
following the recent elections.
I was invited to see the new Prime Minister at
Chatham House
last year, when he was Deputy.
It has been most interesting to be able to discuss ideas on the developments
in international trade and co-operation,
and the Global Emerging Markets Summit,
was the most appropriate time to do this

I presented him with my second book on Malaysia
'Labuan' it was nice to find that we had mutual acquaintances in Malaysia
